On 1 June, the Wang Chau and Long Bin Volunteer Team organised a career workshop for Year 1 Higher Diploma students in Civil Engineering at the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE), Tsing Yi Campus. The event aimed to support students in exploring career opportunities within the engineering industry.

The workshop featured content closely aligned with the students’ academic curriculum. It began with sharing sessions by volunteer team members, who provided insights into the daily responsibilities of civil engineering professionals, various career development pathways, and the application of modern technologies and artificial intelligence in construction projects. This was followed by a specially designed scenario-based simulation activity, which encouraged students to apply engineering thinking in practice and develop their ability to analyse and solve real-world problems.

The workshop concluded with an interactive session featuring representatives from the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD), Arup, CNCEC–CRCC15 Joint Venture, and Build King–Richwell Engineering Joint Venture. The speakers shared their career journeys and offered valuable perspectives on current industry trends, providing practical guidance to the students.

Throughout the event, students demonstrated strong enthusiasm and active participation. Teaching staff also expressed appreciation for the workshop’s practical and relevant content. Looking ahead, the Wang Chau and Long Bin Volunteer Team will continue to organise a variety of initiatives to bridge academia and industry, helping young people better understand career opportunities in the -engineering sector and encouraging more talent to join the construction industry.
